Volunteers are an essential part of the mission and daily life at St. Patrick School. Whether you're supervising recess, assisting in the classroom, or helping at events, your time, talents, and example help shape a nurturing and faith-filled school community.

There are dozens of ways to serve based on your interests, time, and availability:

  • Classroom & Student Support

    • Classroom aide
    • Reading helper
    • Room parent
    • Field trip chaperone (must meet safety & driving requirements)
    • Nap time aide (Preschool)
    • Lunch and recess monitor
  • Schoolwide & Event Support

    • Library helper
    • Office/clerical support
    • Concessions stand (athletic events)
    • Setup and cleanup for events
    • Treat drop-off for parties

Receive necessary instructions and support

Make suggestions for improving volunteer processes

Step back from volunteering if needed

Volunteer Responsibilities

As a volunteer, you’re a representative of St. Patrick School and the Catholic Church. You are expected to:

Arrive on time and stay for the agreed duration. Notify staff if you are going to be late or need to leave early.

Respect the authority of teachers and staff and model respect for students.

Maintain confidentiality about students and families.

Report any concerns involving health, safety, or suspected abuse.

Follow all safety protocols, school rules, and supervision procedures.

Set a good example for students by dressing appropriately and modestly for activities and events.

Volunteers must refrain from the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, and inappropriate language or behavior while on campus or during school events.

Requirements to Volunteer

All volunteers must meet Diocese of Peoria Safe Environment requirements, including:

  • Completing background checks
  • Safe Environment training (via CMG Connect)
  • Signing a Code of Conduct
  • Reviewing Volunteer Driving Requirements (if transporting students)

Field trip chaperones or those transporting students must also provide:

  • A valid driver’s license
  • Proof of car insurance
  • Confirmation that vehicles are in safe operating condition
  • A signed acknowledgment of the Driving Requirements and Field Trip Policy
